I have adopted two dogs from Mali & Derek to Germany and had nothing but excellent experiences. Both adoptions a masterpiece of organization and reliability from everyone involved. A great team that ensures the adoption process runs smoothly from beginning to end. Thank you so much!

Mabprachan Animal Shelter
We are a private shelter & refuge for currently 350 dogs & 35 cats. All animals have been rescued out of emergency situations.
Our shelter began life back in 2001, when my wife Mali and I found a desperately hungry looking dog outside the gate of our home in Pattaya. We fed it and after five weeks it showed its gratitude by presenting us with five puppies.
Since then numerous other injured & unwanted animals have arrived. When the number of dogs reached over 100 we had to find extra land. The only affordable land was in Chanthaburi, where we were able to find 15 rai (2.4 hectares) in the middle of nowhere. In late 2014 our shelter in Pattaya has closed its gates and all of our animals have moved to our facility in Chanthaburi.
Until recently 90% of all financing has been covered by the earnings and savings of my wife and myself. Unfortunately we have now reached the point where we desperately need help in the form of donations and sponsorships to keep Mabprachan Animal Shelter going. Veterinary and food costs are increasing by the day and the outlook is bleak. Hence we have no option but to throw ourselves on the mercy of other dog lovers for the necessary assistance.
Anyone who wishes to visit us is welcome to do so, but please contact us first.

What some of our supporters say:
When you volunteer here at Mali & Derek’s you don’t just volunteer, you become part of a family! Mabprachan Animal Shelter is a small oasis smack in the jungle. The dogs here are amazing with their quirks and funny personalities. Mali is the sweetest and most caring person I’ve ever met! Definitely join this family and volunteering program! It’s memories that will last a lifetime.
I have given Freedom, a survivor of the illegal dog meat trade, a home in Germany. I am completely satisfied with the process of adoption and would not hesitate to adopt another dog from Mali & Derek. The entire process is very professional, very reliable and organised on a very personal level. Even after the adoption the contact remained and I was not left alone. Just awesome! My little Freedom is a very happy girl today. A big thank you to everyone who made this possible.
After two months here at the shelter it is now very difficult to leave. I was part of the family which gave me a deep insight into the Thai way of life. Spending time with over 300 dogs every day, looking after them, feeding them, taking them for walks, has filled me with so much joy. I have learnt a lot from Mali as we worked closely together. I have seen many sad fates here, as well as heartwarming stories of recoveries and adoptions. What I experienced here has influenced me immensily and I am very grateful that I have found my way here. It‘s amazing what the people here are doing for the animals, totally committed to the care and wellbeing of the dogs & cats. Thanks a lot!
